Friday Facts: Signs Point to Homeownership Being Cheaper Than Renting

by Suzanne Hinton-ReMax Premier

Some additional reports have come out stating that the indicators are pointing to homeownership being cheaper than renting.  Record low interest rates and affordable home prices is making it harder to justify paying a rental amount that may be equal to or higher than a monthly mortgage payment and the positives of homeownership.

If you have been keeping up on blog posts discussing the monthly housing sales for Prairie Village KS homes and Overland Park homes, you have seen that we are consistently showing an increase in the  number of homes sold.  This will in turn lead to less overall inventory which will lead to a more balanced buyer and seller market rather than what we have been experiencing as a “buyer’s market.”

If you have been thinking of selling or buying your Prairie Village KS or Overland Park KS home, the market indicators are certainly pointing to some positive information for both Sellers and Buyers, but may end up costing a Buyer more to buy the home of their choice.
